Legislation: Ohio House Bill 275 – Domestic Violence

Bill: House Bill 275 (full text, official bill analysis) Title: Domestic Violence Sponsors: Representative Patmon, Barnes Bill Analysis:  The bill creates the Commission on Violence Against Women and Children and requires them to release an annual report. The Commission is to study the factors that lead to violence against women and children and gather and submit data related to this this. Additionally the Commission is to recommend changes to Ohio law that will help to stop violence against women and children.  The bill also creates the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children fund at the treasury and designates August as “Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children Month.” Status: Introduced in the House on September 30, 2013 and received a hearing in the House.
