Earlier this month, the Biden-Harris administration announced a huge victory for seniors! Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act and Senator Sherrod Brown, millions of Medicare recipients can now receive lower prices on ten prescription drugs, cutting the costs of critical medications by as much as 79%. This announcement comes after Whitehouse stood up to Big Pharma by ensuring Medicare can negotiate directly with drug companies for the lowest costs and even capped the cost of insulin at $35/month.
Seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare will also benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act’s $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket spending, which takes full effect in 2025. This cap will save 19 million beneficiaries an average of $400 per year, on top of the savings from negotiated drug prices. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, Ohioans have more affordable access to essential drugs that treat conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
