Innovation Ohio issued a release this morning about legislation pending in the Ohio House that would place restrictions on abortions, both of which may be thwarted by provisions of the recently-enacted Issue 3. The constitutional amendment, passed by voters in November, prohibits any state law that bans the sale of healthcare or health insurance.
The bill, HB 79, bans health insurance providers from covering abortion procedures through policies offered via the state health insurance exchange to be created in compliance with the federal Affordable Care Act.
Witnesses at today’s hearing will testify the bill is unconstitutional as a result of Issue 3.
