Legislation: Ohio House Bill 298 – “Family Planning”

Bill: House Bill 298 (full text, official bill analysis)

Title: ”Family Planning”

Sponsors: Representatives Roegner and Rosenberger

Bill Analysis: The stated purpose of this bill is to prioritize the distribution of funds, including federal funds, for family planning purposes. The bill establishes criteria for the distribution of these funds, however the way the bill is structured organizations such as Planned Parenthood would be at the bottom of the priority list for funding. This would essentially divert these funds from Planned Parenthood.

Status: Introduced in the House July 13, 2011 and referred to the Health & Aging Committee.  The bill has received hearings, but has not been voted out of committee.
