The Republican-dominated Ohio legislature violated our state constitution when they failed to pass a 2-year budget plan by the June 30 deadline.
Ohio lawmakers haven’t missed a budget deadline since 2009. Before that, it hasn’t happened since 1991. In both previous instances, the state was experiencing deep recessions and two-party control of the Statehouse.
This scenario is completely unprecedented. Republicans control all three branches of Ohio’s government and have a $2 billion surplus to work with.
For most Ohioans, failing to do your job has consequences. It is time to hold our Republican lawmakers accountable for their lack of leadership.
Take a moment to write a letter and tell Gov. Mike DeWine to do his job and demand that GOP lawmakers pass a budget.
