The Heartbeat Bill is Back
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the controversial heartbeat bill from the last General Assembly may be making a comeback. The bill would ban abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which could be as early as six to eight weeks into a pregnancy. Representative Christina Hagan is expected to resurrect the bill when she speaks at the Faith2Action conference next week. The bill was supported in the last General Assembly by the conservative group Faith2Action. However, the bill is so extreme that it was opposed by the Ohio Right to Life, who felt the bill would be over turned by the Federal courts.
