Direct Job Loss from Cuts in the Kasich ‘Jobs Budget’

Research Overview

Governor John Kasich recently introduced his proposed two-year ‘Jobs Budget,’ HB153. While the Administration claims to be creating “a platform for growth, for job creation and for a resurgence of this state,” it appears that the Governor’s budget does just the opposite. The extensive cuts contained in this budget will result not only in the elimination or reduction of key services, but also in extensive job loss throughout the state.

Innovation Ohio conservatively estimates that in the absence of large local tax increases to offset the Administration’s proposed cuts to K-12 education, higher education, state personnel, and local governments, 51,052 direct jobs are likely to be lost.

  1. I’d like the next job to be lost to be that of John Kasich. He’s not a leader, but is instead a destroyer.
I’ll be actively working on the recall effort, along with opposing anything else that he does to harm the state and the people here.

    • You can be proud of yourself Paula Wilt. Your efforts in repealing SB5 have caused an additional 2,300 union layoffs at the state level!    …keep up the good work, you’re doing a better job at getting rid of the corrupt unions than the Republicans are!

  2. After watching the worst governor {Ted Strickland (D)}in Ohio’s history almost destroy our economy by losing a record 381,000 jobs and 2 electoral votes for the state, governor Kasich(R) is a breath of fresh air! What the Democrats do not have the ability to comprehend is that taxes , workmans comp. and bad unemployment laws is precisely what drove major corps. and businesses out of our state! Kasich has slowed the job loss down to a trickle and has a handle on a very bad situation that socialists have created here!   …one thing is for certain, there will be no more record job losses under Gov. Kasich(R)!!!!!
